Eligibility for Comp Benefits

Getting Started on the Path to Workers' Comp

You have recently suffered a work injury. You know that you need workers' compensation benefits. You also know that the path to it may be a challenging one. You don't have to walk that path alone.

At Abes Baumann, we provide free consultations to injured workers. We want you to know that you can contact our attorneys as soon as possible without having to worry about getting a bill in the mail. We want to get involved early. This allows us to help you eliminate common mistakes that often end up being very difficult to fix. We want you to get the benefits you need as quickly as possible.

Treatment from Panel Physicians

Early in the workers' compensation benefits process, you will be directed to get treatment from a panel physician. This is a doctor that has been chosen by your employer and your employer's workers' compensation insurance company.

Unfortunately, these company doctors are not always the best doctors in the field. We consider it our duty to see that you get the best treatment you can get. We will provide you guidance on how to get away from the company doctor and still get treatment that is covered by workers' compensation.

What Type of Injury Did You Suffer?

Our lawyers began representing injured workers in Pittsburgh and throughout western Pennsylvania in 1981. We have seen all types of injuries, including:

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome and other repetitive motion injuries
  • Back injuries
  • Head injuries
  • Shoulder injuries
  • Knee injuries

As long as the injury is severe enough that it is considered a disability that prevents you from working, the exact type of injury doesn't necessarily impact eligibility for compensation. The most critical point related to type of injury is that you see a doctor who can appropriately treat that type of injury. Our experience means that we know who to point you to for proper medical care.

The majority of workers' compensation medical and wage loss benefit cases are handled on a contingency basis. What this means is that you do not pay a fee unless our lawyers make a recovery for you.
